About: Neil Pittaway NEAC RWS RE LFA was born in Wakefield, Yorkshire in 1973. He studied at Cheltenham School of Art from 1993-96, the University of Bradford from 1996-1998, the Royal Academy Schools, London, 1998-2001 and the University of Huddersfield, 2003-04. Neil is a Member of the New English Art Club (NEAC), the Royal Watercolour Society (RWS), the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE), Associate Member of the Alpine Club, London, and an exhibiting Member of Leeds Fine Artists (LFA).  His work is in public collections including the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford; Bankside Gallery, RWS & RE Collection, London; Victoria and Albert Museum, London; St. Paul’s Cathedral Library, London; Guild Hall Art Library, London; The Arts Club, Dover Street, London; the D.H. Lawrence Museum and Birthplace, Nottingham; the Indian Institute of Contemporary Art, Mumbai, India; The Royal Collection Trust and The Collection of Heritage Malta. In Neil’s work travel, discovery, the Enlightenment, Gothic revival, satire and historical heritage, are used to create a labyrinth of visual histories.

 

 

Travel:Neil's passion for travel started at a very early age and continues to this day where he has travelled to over 30 countries. The artist draws most of his inspiration from these travels including journey's in the Himalaya's, The Andes, Georgian Caucuses, The mountains of Transylvanian, The Alps, Northern and central India, China, Syria and most recently Africa where he completed a road trip from the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe through Botswana, Namibia and South Africa to Cape Town and Cape Point and Jordan where he created work following the Spice Trails of Jordan from Wadi Rum to Petra.

RWS and the Royal Albert Hall, London - Past Exhibition 

Link to the past exhibition Neil exhibited in 2011, which was held at the Royal Albert

Hall in 2011 and was entitled 'A year in the life the Royal Albert Hall', where Neil alongside

other RWS Members was given free access to events and concerts (over the period of one year  to create and record work based on this. Neil created several images of the BBC 'Last Night of the

Proms'  and one of these was selected and used on the cover of the Royal Albert Hall's official first 

calendar and was sold in their shop. Some images of Neil's work at the Royal Albert Hall, London 2011.
